Lake Winnipesaukee Bachelor Party Guide

Lakefront rentals, Weirs Beach, Laconia nightlife, boat charters, and private entertainment for bachelor parties at Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.

Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire's largest lake and one of the largest in New England, is the region's premier summer lake destination for bachelor parties. At 72 square miles with over 250 islands, the lake is large enough to spend a full weekend on the water. The towns ringing the lake — Laconia, Weirs Beach, Meredith, Alton Bay, and Wolfeboro — each bring something different to a bachelor party weekend. Groups drive up from Boston in under two hours and find a fully formed summer resort scene ready to go from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Weirs Beach, The Bachelor Party Hub

Weirs Beach on the southwestern shore is the most energetic stretch of the Winnipesaukee basin for a bachelor party. The boardwalk, the arcades, the Funspot game center (the largest arcade in the world by some measures), waterslides, and a concentrated strip of bars and restaurants make Weirs Beach the natural gathering point for groups wanting maximum activity. The M/S Mount Washington dinner cruise departs from Weirs Beach and makes an entertaining group outing before the evening entertainment.

Laconia Nightlife

Laconia is the city hub for Lake Winnipesaukee bachelor party nightlife. Bars on Main Street and along the waterfront in Lakeport keep groups busy on Saturday nights. During Laconia Motorcycle Week in June, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country — the energy around the lake is at its peak and the bar scene expands significantly. Outside of Bike Week, the Laconia bar scene is active but manageable, large enough to give the group options, small enough that the whole evening stays in a compact area.

Meredith and Alton Bay

Meredith

Meredith on the northwestern shore is the most upscale of the Winnipesaukee towns. The Church Landing and Inns and Spa at Mill Falls offer the lake's best hotel accommodations for groups who prefer hotels over rental houses. The downtown has excellent restaurants and a more relaxed, less carnival-like atmosphere than Weirs Beach — better for groups who want the lake experience without the boardwalk energy.

Alton Bay

Alton Bay at the southern tip of the lake is a quieter base with good rental inventory and a local bar scene that has hosted bachelor parties for generations. The Town Docks restaurant and bar on the water is the natural gathering spot for Alton Bay-based groups.

Lake Winnipesaukee Rentals

The lakefront rental inventory on Winnipesaukee is among the best in New England for bachelor parties, large multi-bedroom houses with private docks, hot tubs, and open common areas on the water. The best properties book 4-6 weeks in advance for summer weekends. Weirs Beach and Gilford on the southern shore have the densest rental concentration for groups who want proximity to the boardwalk scene. Meredith and Center Harbor on the northern end offer more space and privacy.

Boat Rentals and Water Activities

Winnipesaukee is big enough that a full day on the water never gets old. Pontoon boats, ski boats, and jet skis are all available from marinas in Weirs Beach, Meredith, and Wolfeboro. A lake day, launching from the dock at the rental, anchoring at one of the islands for swimming, and returning for the evening — is the signature Winnipesaukee bachelor party activity that groups talk about for years.
